An online mini-retreat of embodied sitting...

Covid has stopped us exploring compassion this Autumn in the Scarborough, London and Holy Island courses and retreat. But following the huge success of this summer's virtual retreat, AlistairJenny and Daniel are holding a long-weekend of online compassion practice and open-heartedness.

Gentle stretching, breathing, self-shiatsu and the Tibetan practice of tonglen will all create a space for us to explore our scrunchy hearts and open them up as we deal with this post-Lockdown world.

Alistair will be drawing on the wisdom of the pithy lojong slogans of the Tibetan heart tradition.

Two days of stillness, embodied compassion practice, gentle yoga and shiatsu. All contained in the Mindsprings community Zoom Room

Alistair speaks about the retreat

  • Self-Shiatsu

Working with the subtle energies of the body, Jenny will be teaching us these powerful techniques to make our hearts sing.

  • Meditation

Taking inspiration from the Tibetan pith compassion sayings (lojong), Alistair will be looking at how we can really feel our hearts opening to the world.

  • Gentle Yoga

Compassion practice without the body can quickly become a list of shoulds and shouldn't. Daniel's gentle stretching will keep us in the body through the whole weekend.

The Team & the Schedule

Many Holy Island old-timers would expect to see Kirsty on the virtual island but she has (wisely perhaps) decided that she'd rather be out in the fresh air than teaching online! She will, of course, be guiding us when the Island re-opens.

So for the online course, Daniel has kindly agreed to stand in for Kirsty teaching yoga, while Jenny and Alistair provide the shiatsu and meditation respectively.

Rough timetable:

We have a welcoming circle and sit on Friday evening at 7.30pm.

Then on Saturday and Sunday:

7am- 8am: Early morning yoga + silent sit

8am-9am: Breakfast break

9am- 1pm: Meditation, shiatsu, teaching

1pm - 3pm: Lunch self-practice, rest

3pm - 4pm: Pranayama

4pm-6pm: Meditation, shiatsu, teaching

6pm -7pm Supper time

7pm-8pm: Sitting practice

We're pricing this in a new way...
